By doing this it aims to encourage immigrants’ participation in the democratic process, by developing a transnational comprehensive new multi media strategy containing eight national digital media platforms, QR-code technology for mobile telephones and a simultaneous publication of 4 - 8 page (print) attachment to a national free newspaper in eight EU member states on the same day (November 2012). These national media outlets will present views and opinions of immigrants on national and local developments, presenting immigrant role models which are actively involved in local politics and consultative bodies and efforts and results of national EIF projects. The publications will be followed up by national round tables in which immigrants will exchange their views and opinions with consultative bodies, local authorities and others, in order to enhance the general public’s perception on migration. Media4US2 has to result in more visibility of the efforts and results of (inter)national EIF projects and an improvement of immigrants’ participation in the democratic process and their strategic use of media, to encourage intercultural interaction between immigrant and the host population and an increase in the cooperation between immigrant communities in different member states on this matter on national as well as on European level in order to continue and extend Media4US2 after the project period.
Media4US2 is co-financed by the EU's Integration Fund for 3rd country nationals.
The project started on September 2011 and will be completed by May 2013.
