About

This is the information and exchange website of the MIM - Migrants in the Media EU funded project. The participants in this project are Public Broadcast Services (PSBs) and immigrant organisations (NGOs) from seven EU countries: Belgium, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, and Sweden. The aim of the MIM project is to improve the interaction between third countries nationals (immigrants) and EU member states citizens by promoting intercultural competences for programming -and journalistic staff of national Public Service Broadcasters (PSB) and media skills for immigrant organisations (NGOs). The outcomes of the project will help on the long term to improve PSB as a platform for intercultural dialogue and to act as a binding factor between all citizens of the European multicultural society, helping to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding and intercultural communication. Immigrant organisations will establish themselves as mediators between the immigrant communities and the public broadcasters by offering their staff better access to immigrant communities, by providing better skilled immigrant spokes persons and information on the opinions and developments inside the immigrant communities. This will all contribute to a more balanced portrayal of immigrants and to an equal participation of immigrants in the public debates and in the media.

The MIM project is co-financed by the European Community under the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals - Community Actions.
